Sad movies always make me cry 
He said he had to work 
so I went to the show alone 
They turned down the lights 
and turned the projector on 
And just as the news of the world started to begin 
I saw my darling and my best friend walking in 
 
Though I was sitting there 
They didn't see and so
they sat right down in front of me 
And he kissed her lips I almost died 
And in the middle of the color cartoon 
I started to cry

So I got out and slowly walked on home 
And Mama saw the tears and said 
'What's wrong? 
and so to keep from telling her a lie 
I just said 'Sad movies make me cry"

슬픈 영화는 언제나 나를 울려요   
그는 일해야 한다고 말했죠 
그래서 나는 혼자 영화를 보러갔어요 
극장의 불이 꺼지고 영사기가 돌아가기 시작했어요 
그리고 세계뉴스가 시작되었을 때 
나는 나의 애인이 나의 가장 친한 친구와 
함께 걸어 들어오는 것을 보았죠 
 
나는 자리에 앉아있었지만 
그들은 나를 보지 못했죠 
그래서 그들은 내 좌석 바로 앞에 앉았어요 
그가 그녀에게 키스를 했을때

나는 거의 죽는줄 알았어요 

그리고 그 총천연색 만화영화가 중간쯤을 지날 때 전 울기 시작했죠

그래서 나는 일어나 천천히 집으로 걸어 갔어요 
엄마가 내 눈물을 보고  "무슨일이냐?"고 물어보셨죠 
나는 엄마에게 거짓말을 하지 않기위해
그냥 슬픈 영화가 날 울렸다고 했어요
